Rated 2.5 out of 5 by 4reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by no voltage detection? watched reviews and you tube and liked features and accuracy. can see mutliple uses that appeal more than standard stud finders. what am i missing that in review there was a light to indicate live wires and nothing on this unit? because used professionally may not use as intended to . Rated 2 out of 5 by Far Too Bulky First let me state that I purchased the kit (subscanner, M12 charger, M12 battery and carrying case). It was pretty expensive for a scanner compared to other manufacturers units. I agree with Austin Zippy on most of what he says especially when it comes to size of the scanner cause it's big, way too big for home projects. However Austin, there is a center point on the unit that is not mentioned in the manual. The center point is on the end of the unit and is 2 small vertical bars that you can put a pencil point between to mark either edge and/or center of the stud as they appear on the display. It does detect some objects inside of walls such as pipes and gives a depth to them in inches or centimeters (which is nice) but you can also get false readings. In my case a fresh coat of Zinser 123 primer that had over 24 hours to dry blocked any stud sensing. It doesn't sense for electrical wiring like other units do. If this unit was half the size, detected electrical wiring and better priced I might have kept it but I am returning mine. July 23, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Do Not Buy This - Does not work on 5/8 It is very large, and if it worked it would be worth it. The scanner gets confused by insulation and if scanning thru anything other than 1/2" non insulated drywall, it will not work. Most walls you want to scan have something on them (Tile/marble or they are insulated) the device just gets confused and gives you many false stud readings. Once you loose confidence in a scanner, you might as well throw it away, cause you never believe it again. Do not buy this General Contractor & Purdue University Construction Mgmt Grad I am going back to the basic stud finder June 30, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Massive This thing is about a foot long, over 2 times as large as your basic stud finder. The accuracy is great, and the ability to sense the edge and center of the stud is helpful. HOWEVER, the unit is so massive it's very difficult to mark the location of the stud since there is no laser marker. The center point of the unit is not marked, so even though the great LCD display tells you where the edge and center are, actually marking them is a near impossible. Total product oversight and I wish I could send it back. It would have been so easy to put and LED or laser marker to help you pencil in the location on the wall. Did I mention it was huge? I can't fit it in a drawer...10"x5"x6"...wow! February 22, 2012
