Rated 5 out of 5 by 3reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Tool and Super Excellent Product Support My main reason for writing this review is not to praise the screwdriver but to praise the excellent product support team at Milwaukee. I had one of the older model 490-20 power screwdrivers which was redesigned in many small ways to become the model 2101-22. I was very happy with the older model 490-22 model but the battery failed after many years of use and I could not find a quality replacement battery. I sent an email to Milwaukee in hopes that a replacement battery would somehow be available. They confirmed that the battery was no longer available but they generously offered to replace the entire unit with the current model 2101-22. I was a bit concerned that the newer model has a smaller capacity battery but it outperforms the older unit in all areas from power to battery life. Near its limit it will drive an 1.5 inch long #6 trim screw into white pine which is more than needed for my use. My primary use is for the repair of small model engines which generally use #3 through #6 machine screws. This requires an accurately controlled torque to preclude over-tightening the fastener. It is by far the best available for this application. Milwaukee should be your go-to source for any power hand tool for quality and service. June 18, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Battery smaller? This new screwdriver is lighter and it seems that the savings comes from the battery. The old battery is labeled 3.0Ah, whereas the new one is labelled 2.0Ah. The new charger is rated for 3A and the old charger is rated for 6A. The new charger takes 45 minutes as opposed to the old charger which took 30 minutes. As far as using the tool goes, battery life seems ok, but it is too new to be sure. Perhaps the screwdriver is more efficient and battery life will be similar. From Milwaukee's description, I expect "50 percent more runtime" than the 0490-20 screwdriver and I remain cautiously optimistic. I believe the 0490-20 to be the absolute best among straight stick power screwdrivers except perhaps this new one. April 6, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Many small improvements I'm surprised Milwaukee doesn't tell us the improvements over the previous model with the gray colored head. The older model is rated at 30 in-lbs vs 44 in-lbs, a significant increase for this new model. It's lighter. I weighed both models, the older one at 1.160 vs 1.005 lbs (both with batteries installed). It's shorter, providing better handling. The handle, with the rubber inserts feels like it has a better grip compared to the previous model. A complaint on the previous model was that the battery would fall out in use. The battery in this model seems to lock in more securely. All of these refinements make for a much better driver. Is it worth upgrading to this new driver? If your older unit is still working good then probably not. If you a tech junky like me that must have the best, then yes, upgrade! March 2, 2013
