Customer Reviews

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 10reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great little unit "if you use it for it's intended use"! I purchased this little unit "solely" for camping lights and it does this perfectly. Understand that it's only 800 watts, if you want to run a refrigerator and all the camping items you want to bring, "DON"T buy this unit, it's too small. This is a fantastic unit for a fan in the tent and a light or two.I haul this unit on my ATV and it's light and very portable. It has already ran over 4+ hours with lights on and not so much as a hick-up.I broke the unit in slow and changed the oil as the manual says and have even gave it a second oil change in 10 hours time.If you want to compare this unit to others that are three times the price, don't bother… For $300+ dollars it is a "VERY NICE" unit for the money. Take care of it, follow the instructions and it will serve you well. Only thing is I use a 50ft extension cord to get it away from the camping area, it is slightly louder than some other small units, "but" for the money and a long cord, "no problem"! June 28, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice unit A bit cramped near the oil fill but that's to be expected with a small unit. Started easily and ran smoothly under load of a 24" drum fan. I haven't put it through it's paces yet but my initial impression is good. March 17, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by poor relibility bought unit, gassed up, installed oil,and took abouit 1/2 hr. to get started, ran poorly for a few days and then quit producing power.took to dealer and it was replaced with a new unit.New unit started one pull and ran well for several months, then would start but stall.Going back to service but suspect electronic problem same as in first one. Rated 4 out of 5 by This generator serves it's purpose and is super quiet Was a skeptic but once i fired it up at the Bama game it was as quiet as the higher priced Hondas. I reccomend you try this one out before you spend the extra dough on the name espeially when you get the same quality and value for the need. I would reccomend this to all can't wait for the power to go out so I can watch the TV and not have to listen to the roar of the generator I ha before I purchased the Generac brand. This unit is lightweight and user friendly just turn the gas on and plug the cord(s) in and you are ready for a quiet and peaceful tailgate at your favorite teams campus. November 10, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent product; easy to stary; quiet; easy to transport; Clean and ready to go in box; fuel, oil, follow instructions and started on 2nd pull; July 6, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent portable generator! I bought this as a demo unit from Brand New Engines. It essantially is a brand new reconditioned generator. I put in the oil, and seafoam treated premium gas, primed the IX800, one pull and it started.Put a 750 watt load on the gen - and it revved up and powered the lights without problem. The gen does change RPM up and down - this is how an inverter is supposed to work.I have owned at least 5 generators - Kohler, Honda, Tecumseh powered craftsman and a China Honad clone. This works as well, weighs much less and does what it is supposed to do. It's quiet enough. Is it super -duper quiet? No but is is quieter that my 4 ton AC unit.Remember though - this is a gas engine powered item and will have fuel issues if you let old gas sit in it. Seafoam has never let me down! July 1, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by First time back-up generator owner Since I don't have any experience with other brands/models, I'm not sure how useful my review will be, nevertheless:Set up was actually a breeze. I REALLY did read the instruction manual (and I am a MALE!) once as an overview and then for detail as I went through the set up process. It is basically add the oil, add the gasoline, turn 2 knobs, pull the start rope. The machine started right up on first pull. Highly unusual for any small, gasoline-powered engine.Loaded with two lamps and then a paper shredder so as to assess the "power-up" function and it worked just fine. I thought I saw a flicker one time in the lights when I fed the shredder, but could have been the other lights in the home. By the way, I only used one outlet of the two available -- if that makes any difference -- I had a 15 ga 50ft ext cord and at the end of that had a heavy duty 3 way outlet. As I write, I am listening to the engine run as I allow it to run out of fuel for storage. It does seem to chage RPM quite a bit without a change in load. This makes me wonder a bit about the carburation. For what it's worth, that is my review. If you just want an inexpensive back-up for low load use, this will serve you well. March 17, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by A best buy for the money A great little generator for the money and 1/3 the price of the competitor. Two complaints, too loud, and needs a larger gas tank. Would I buy it again, absolutely! January 20, 2012
