Voltage Detector,5 In. L,90 to 1000VAC is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 29.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The most accurate and durable voltage detector I have tried many voltage detection tools over the 18 years of my career as an electrician (residential, industrial, commercial, maintenance), but Fluke makes the most accurate and durable one that I've ever used and I'll be sticking with it, since I bought my first one (earlier Fluke model) about 15 years ago. Many others are too sensitive and will light up as soon as it's inside of a junction box of live wires. With the Fluke 1AC, one can identify each live source with no problem; of course as voltage goes up, sensitivity does as well, but so it goes with any such tool. Some people complain about the tips breaking, but this has not been my experience, as I've dropped mine several times from about 3 feet, which has broken every other brand that I've bought.Being able to use the tool without the sound is great, as one can go about troubleshooting without distracting those who are around. The light flashes in intervals when not near a live source to let you that it's working, which is quite handy; however, always test on a known live source first. This IS NOT A LIFE SAFETY TOOL, this is a great TROUBLESHOOTING TOOL. If you are looking to save time and be more efficient before using your meter, I would recommend the Fluke 1AC to do so. Just avoid hard impacts and change the batteries regularly and you'll have this tool for quite some time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everyone should have one The experience I've had with this product had been very positive over the many years I have used it. (Industrial Electrician) You just have to treat it with care and use it properly. That means checking it before using it each and every time. That is how I discovered the batteries in mine leaked and ruined the printed circuit board inside. As a result of mess it made, I will now check each one of my battery powered devices and install fresh new batteries, recording the battery warranty date on the outside of the instrument so this doesn't happen again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick and easy I own two different Fluke digital multi-meters, but I bought this product to do quick go/no-go testing on receptacle circuits and lighting branches when I work in office buildings. The VoltAlert is quick and easy to use, reliable, and allows me to instantly verify good or bad branch circuits as easily as pulling a pen out of my shirt pocket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tester I purchased this as my last one was lost or stolen from my tool bag. I like the new features. They have added a constant battery check (voltbeat) is what they call it so you know the tester is on and working. It also has an auto off so your battery lasts longer. I also like the audible and its not round anymore so it doesn't roll when you put it down. great value and durable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product Have had this tester for over 4 years now. Changed batteries only once or twice. Compared to other testers I have bought and stopped using, this one has given me less false warnings of voltage that isn't present. For a tool that provides safety, that is a must.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tool I recently purchased my second one after the first died after 8+ years of constant use. I have friends that use other types and the fluke is more reliable and consistent. I would never buy another brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Use Every Work Day Carry the VoltAlert in my shirt pocket every work day. Working as a licensed electrician I probably use it for testing circuits 10 times a day. The beep tone is a great feature to use when you want to find the circuit breaker for a particular receptacle. Just insert the VoltAlert into the receptacle, go to the panel and start flipping the breakers. When the beep stops you have found your breaker. Also, a great tool for fixing Christmas lights.
