Rated 1.5 out of 5 by 15reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Below 2 star avg. on most famous accessory I have owned four Dremel over the span of 25 years and it shocks me how poor quality and a sub 2 star review does not inspire a change in design. I am tired of throwing away money on replacing these mandrels when the screw breaks or gets lost. July 7, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Screw broke Screw became difficult to remove and screw down firmly. It's now broken off rendering this useless June 19, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Broken screw, just like others I was very careful with this mandrel, particularly after reading some of the reviews about broken screws. I would back the screw out slowly until the threads jumped, and then finger tighten it to prevent cross threading. Well even being this careful, the screw eventually got stuck and snapped off inside. I wouldn't be as upset if these things were cheaper, but at this price it really shouldn't be this fragile. May 21, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by It's not as hard as you think! I'm not an avid tool user, but I do use my dremel for small projects (like adding a bevel to my drawing board to prevent artwork from slipping off). I actually had no issue with the mandrill. I found it works best if you screw it into the dremel, then hold the ferrule for grip/support, and use a short screwdriver to remove the screw. I do agree with another reviewer though, in that there should be mandrill screws sold separately, since the mandrill is way stronger than the screw itself, so having to replace the entire piece is kind of a waste. Rated 1 out of 5 by Terrible I would rate 0 but I'm not allowed to. Screw wouldn't go back in after changing out one of the (also cheaply made) 409 blades and now my project is impossible to finish.Tried cleaning the threads out and still gets stuck. The screw eventually snapped in half... Go figure. What a waste of my time and money. The 409 blades are also garbage. The metal that they're supposedly able to cut instead just ate the blade down to nothing in about 2 minutes. May 6, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by #402 mandrel Bought the dremmel 4000 specifically for using the cutting wheel but can't get the screw out of the mandrel. Bought a second , but same story. a total waste of my $. I do not recommend this product. April 17, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor quality This mandrel came in the attachment kit with my recently purchased Model 3000. When I went to attach a cutting disc the small screw pulled right out. After reading other reviews this appears to be a common problem with this mandrel. So I decided to go ahead and spend money on the EZ Lock mandrel and associated cutting wheel. It was frustrating that I had to spend additional $ for the EZ Lock mandrel and EZ Lock attachments, but don't waste your money on the 402 mandrel. April 3, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Need to sell solely replacement screws alone! I've used this piece for years in my work, and I often have to purchase a new one because just the screw has either become stripped, or today, the head of the screw completely came off. On top of that, today for the first time the #409 pieces, the small wheels were not held securely and broke quite quickly. December 7, 2015
