Rated 2.1 out of 5 by 46reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Never charged My fiance bought this for me a while back, and until recently i haven't had a chance to actually use it. When i turn it on, it will start up but when i apply it to any surface it shuts off. I basically assumed it just needed to be charged, but when i go to charge the battery, no lights turn on and no charge. I would return it but because it was a gift, I have no receipt. I like the idea of this product but it seems as if i got a bad battery or charger. This thing is essentially brand new. I am not very satisfied with the product at all. September 13, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by On switch works sometimes I received the 8100 as a gift about a year ago and have not used it until about a week ago. Since then overtime I trie and turn it on I have to fiddle with the slider switch to get it to work. Some time taking multiple tries before it will turn on. So disappointed, if I had a receipt for this I would take it back. July 10, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Such a strong start :/ Worked well for about 30 mintues. It now will only turn on for 2 seconds before shutting off. Have charged and tried many times over the last couple weeks--no improvement. July 5, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by intermittent shutdown As others have experienced, the tool will shut down after very short use. This can happen even with no pressure on the bit, and no chance for heat build-up.Great when it works, though. June 17, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Waiting for Dremel to repair / or cover warranty? I bought this a month or so ago and used it for the first time today (5/15/16). It does NOT perform at all under the slightest pressure when I used a small cutting / grinding wheel. I have to constantly turn it completely off repeatedly then back on and it shuts off again with such little pressure it's almost useless. I'm assuming I have a lemon / bad unit as the other Dremel products I have purchased over the years have been fine. Glad I sent in the warranty (a first for me) I will wait to complete my review after I hear back from Dremel as to how they handle this situation. May 15, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor quality I have 5 corded Dremel Rotaries and 4 cordless ones. The 8100 is the worst of the lot. I have barely used this one and it is intermittent and has battery issues. Looks like a lot of others have the same issue. So far none of the cordless units have lasted more than a few uses except my old Stylus model which is the only cordless still usable. I only use these on model railroad building so nothing strenuous. May 9, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Switch Design Flaw My husband has so much experience with tools, that I asked his assistance selecting a Model for my use. The sliding on/off/speed switch was glitchy from the beginning; but now it is so bad that the unit is virtually useless. The switch doesn't turn the unit on (effective with "off") nor moderate speed. Rated 3 out of 5 by great tool but stopped working shortly after I loved this product when I first got it. I gained many new hobbies and became more handy than I ever thought I could be. shortly after I bought it though, it stopped working. I think it is a problem with the switch. sometimes It would take a couple tries before it would start up. Then it became progressively worse by dying on me while running. It seems very early for it to be acceptable for this to happen already as I have only owned it for a few short months. April 14, 2016
