Rated 4 out of 5 by THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE REPLACED THIS MOTOR ON THE SAME UNIT.THE LAST ONE WORKED GOOD FOR ABOUT 6 YEARS, I USE MY UNIT YEAR ROUND AS A HEAT PUMP AND A/C SO IT GETS A WORKOUT.MOUNTING SCREWS ARE EXTRA LONG BUT I JUST CHANGED FROM ACORN NUT TO REGULAR AND ADDED A JAMB NUT. Rated 3 out of 5 by Like many people pointed out, the mounting screws are too long and had to be cut down. Not a big deal. The motor started and runs just fine. My main issue with this motor is it makes a medium-loud "ticking" noise when it runs. The fan is perfectly balanced and I know the ticking is not coming from the compressor (ran that separately). If I had to buy another motor for my condenser I think I would spend a little more and try to get a better brand that doesn't "tick". July 11, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by I made sure to mount in such a way that the cables were on the side of the housing where the connections needed to be. Unfortunately, the cables were still too short. The grounding wire is especially short. It's too long to attach it to the housing the fan is attached to, but what's the point of mounting it there anyway? The fan itself is attached directly to it. The alternative, stretching it along with the other wires past the ends of the blades doesn't work because it's shorter than the blades. As others have mentioned, the studs are too long. They interfere with the fan blades. Whoever installed my previous motor cut them off with a hack saw. I opted for reversing them so that they projected up above the housing. They poke up higher than needed, but I don't care. The motor I was replacing (same model) had copper wires. The new one apparently had aluminum wires. August 14, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Didn't know if I could do the job... no experience, but no A/C is a great motivator! Took me over 3 hours to get old fan motor out and blades off shaft, but smooth sailing on the install. Works like a champ... only needed some washers in the top grill to stabilize and works like a champ. September 3, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Had to trim all of the mounting studs on both sides to install in a 4 ton Goodman CKL49-1. The brown fan lead was just barely long enough to reach the capacitor. This is a great motor for the price with ball bearings as a bonus. I didn't want to wait longer to get another AO Smith motor with longer wires. August 11, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Motor did a fine job in getting the A/C condener unit going again. The only issue was having to adjust the placement of the extra-long case screws so they wouldn't interfere with the fan blade when it was all installed, and having to cut off some of those screws' extra length. But it fired right up once everything was back together. July 17, 2012
