Product Details

Dayton® submersible sump pump features a 1-phase, permanently lubricated motor, this pump drains flooded basements, window wells, construction sites, and swimming pools. It can be located in foundation drains in houses or buildings, parking lots, manholes, retention ponds, and truck docks. The motor is maintenance-free. Automatic shutoff protects it from overheating and damage when there is a sudden rise in temperature; it restarts after cooling down.

1/3 HP Submersible Sump Pump, Vertical Switch Type, Polypropylene Base Material is rated 1.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product is junk. I have been a loyal user of Dayton brand products for 40 years. Never have I been so disappointed with a Dayton product. I installed one of these and when it failed in seven months I installed the warranty replacement which also failed. Both times the motor is energized but will not turn the impeller. Removing the bottom cover and turning the impeller by hand will get the motor running, but that doesn't do you any good with a sump pump designed for automatic operation. I think this pump is designed very poorly. The intake screen can be clogged by tiny particles of sand. To clean it, you have to remove the bottom intake cover and physically poke the little particles out of the plastic screen. I have talked to many other people who have had the same problems with these Chinese sumps failing in service way too early. I would not install one again. I put in another brand (made in Kentucky) instead and it's working beautifully. My advice is to spend the extra few dollars for a US manufactured pump. I'm just really disappointed in Grainger's buyers for selling substandard products under the Dayton brand name. All the other Dayton products I have purchased especially electric motors have been wonderful.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lasted 34 months in sump pit with occasional operation. Looks like the casing seal may have failed because found moisture on the circuit board. Will replace with same 3YU58 to try one more time.
