Customer Reviews

White Caulk, Acrylic, 10.1 oz. Cartridge is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 83.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Sealant for Bathrooms We liked the performance of the Kwik Seal Ultra for resealing a tile shower stall as well as around the tub. It applied easily and consistently. It adhered very well and cured nicely, sealing the corners of the shower and the edges around the tub. I had planned to use this when we did repairs on a large window, but the tubes I received we mislabeled. The packaging says clear but the sealant is white. It worked out okay because we also had work to do in the bathroom, but it would be quite upsetting to buy it in a store expecting clear and discover later it was the wrong one. Rated 1 out of 5 by from Gloss White drys opaque in color! One would think that when the tube states "Gloss White" that it would dry that color? I found that not to be true with this DAP Ultra Sealant. It dried to a some what clear opaque color. Looks bad! How the real work starts! Removing it all.....

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy! Worst silicone I've ever used. I applied a bead to one side of my shower. Immediately went back to the top to tool it and it had already skimmed over. Trying to tool a half-dried caulk bead is a disaster - gets all chunky and uneven. Not to mention when I pull off the painter's tape within a couple minutes of applying the caulk, it pulled half the caulk with it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from "Clear" is Not Quite Accurate This is ridiculous. It is a totally illogical to assume that anyone who has ever used a silicone sealant before would be expected to read the application instructions in fine print on the container. Everyone who has ever done so would already know that clean, dry surfaces are essential. However, No One should naturally expect that any product which comes opaque in any color out of a container would cure to anything resembling colorless or transparent. I bought the DAP product due to the features mentioned in LARGE print on the front label, for use where wall tile meets the tub in a new installation. When it came out white, the natural thought was that it was incorrectly packaged/labeled. So I used it to form a perfect appearing seal where the tub meets the floor. Looks Great! For now, anyway..... I came to the DAP site to mention the packaging error, only to read via other reviews that what appears to be white caulk will lose color over time. THAT is more than a little disappointing! Now I am faced with the likelihood that I will need to remove the tub/floor sealant and redo it in white! Because the tub is slightly curved and the tile edges straight, a white opaque sealant is needed do disguise the slight mismatches in profiles. Again, this is ridiculous. Whomever is responsible for labeling the product needs to be educated regarding those people who will purchase the bulk of it, and what they will expect to see as it exits the applicator. Those of us who are new to DAP, and who are used to applying another manufacturer's product will not expect the time-based change. Here is a solution, to keep your end users happy: Change the label marking from "CLEAR" to "DRIES CLEAR", or "CURES CLEAR". I thought I'd try DAP QWIK SEAL ULTRA because the 5.5 oz. flexible tube seemed like a very good way to apply a sealant, so I'd be able to do a better job than with the caulk gun that I am used to. That was correct. Update: Did cure clear where I needed white. Will use elsewhere.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Clear Sealant is NOT Clear - It's WHITE!!! Please note the "CLEAR" sealant is NOT CLEAR. It is WHITE. I used the Clear product on a beige shower and silver shower door. Gave the product the benefit of the doubt that it would turn clear.... WRONG! Looks absolutely ridiculous!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Doesn't All Turn Clear :-( I used the "Clear" to re-caulk my shower pan. It goes on white and is supposed to turn clear within 7-14 days. Most turned clear within the first day. I didn't use the shower for 36 hours after finishing. Now, a month and a half later, there are some areas (perhaps 1/4 of the shower pan) that are still white - as white as it was coming out of the tube. Hmmmm? On the positive side, it was easy to use. Over the years, I've caulked many, many sinks, tubs and showers, so I'm not without any experience. We'll see how it holds up. But what to do with the white part? I'm sure not going to rip it all out and start over! Image attached shows a corner of the pan with the white on the left and where it's turned clear on the right. I would not recommend this product, at least in the "Clear."
