Rated 4 out of 5 by 13reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Classic LM SW I purchased this mower this spring(2015) because I have 2 acres in a somewhat hilly section of eastern West Virginia. I had owned a Toro 30" big mower. It was underpowered and just didn't do the job. However, my Ariens is just great. The mulcher part is good also! This mower has power and cuts really clean. The swivel front wheels allow me to get around the large number of trees on my property. This mower is as advertised. Just buy it and use it! You won't need another one! Sturdy and dependable! Rated 4 out of 5 by Versatile and durable The Veterans Cemetery I work at owns 2 of these machines. The swiveling front wheels make it very easy to maneuver, and the speed adjustment makes it easy for any of my staff to operate the mowers comfortably. The overall features and construction are very high quality. We have had a couple of issues losing the keepers from the height adjustmant pins on the front wheels, but overall are very happy with the performance of these mowers. After 2 years using them, I am impressed enough that when my home mower finally wears out, I am planning on getting one of these for myself. Rated 2 out of 5 by Won't buy again I bought an ariens because the snowblower I had was great and I heard good things about the brand. I now live in the South and am mowing zoysia grass. I have the Kawasaki engine. The engine is very hard to start. I've already had to replace a bearing in a rear wheel (under warranty). I'm also disappointed in the mulching ability. Also, this mower is much heavier than most others. It wouldn't be a big deal (it's self propel) but it barely hauls itself through the grass. Let's just say I'm in much better shape after buying this mower. The swivel wheels are gimmicky and you wouldn't need them except the mower is so heavy it is nice to have them-just as long as you have no hills in your yard. If you do, you'll be fighting the mower and the wheel lock on it is useless. It needs to lock both wheels. Oh, and the self propel speed selector sticks. I had to jimmy it to get it to work. I'm pretty surprised with all the positive reviews here. I hope it's not a case of "I just dropped way to much on this mower, I can't possibly not like it." I've already tried selling it to buy something else but I can't get any money for it. Looks like I'm stuck with it. June 23, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great mower will built. This mower is the best that I ever had and will tell all about how well it works. I should have got it sooner to save me alot of stress and work cutting my lawn. Hope to use it for a long time and how it is built I think it will be so. June 15, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by This is the best mower I have ever owned! Great suction for leaves and debris. Never had a self-propelled lawnmower before this is great! The swivel wheels get around my trees with ease. sturdy, heavy, great paint job. I love the speed control. This is a very impressive machine. Going on my second season, and look forward to many more. Rated 4 out of 5 My second Ariens Classic. Used the first for 25 years. Bought my first Ariens classic mower around 1986 and used it until 2011. Replaced the engine and transmission wheel one time.Bought a new Ariens classic with the swivel wheels. Basically the same mower with the Kawasaki engine. Engine is much more powerful than the old Tecumseh but is seriously heavier. I have a sloped yard and this mower wants to go down hill sideways on the steepest of the slopes. Also, tires are not wide enough to support the weight of the engine. I would have expected the design engineers at Ariens to know better than to bolt a big engine on the same frame and drive train.Never the less, I would probably buy this mower again. It's still a great mower. June 12, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 LM21 SW This is the second Ariens product I have purchased (I also own an Ariens Snow blower), and I am very happy with both. The mower starts on the first pull every time, and the rear bagging system works great. The last mower I had left clippings all over, due to the fact that the bag would get clogged up, not the case with this one. June 12, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Heavy, durable mower. Engine is better than the mower itself I’m in my second season with this mower. I think this mower will hold up for many years, but have noted some improvement needs from such a high end mower.Pros-Kawasaki engine is very reliable. Starts every time with a gentle pull.-swivel wheels make turning and curves a breeze, engaging/disengaging is simple-folding handle is quick and easyCons-self propel speed control does not stay in place even after tightening-expected more power from the self propel, doesn’t do well on hills or uneven surfaces.-bag attachment caused paint chips after one season June 12, 2012
