Product Details

The 3-blade, 14" steel impeller and auger carve out a 24" to 30"-wide path, throwing snow up to 60 ft. A dual-belt auger drive continuously sustains engine power directly to the blower head, with no maintenance adjustments required. This model features a heavy-duty cast-iron gear case with alloy steel gears and L-3 severe-duty gear oil. The high-performance final drive ratio ensures higher torque at wheels and provides superior traction through deep snow.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Big problems: broken crankshaft 2+years old, no help- Ariens Moderate use for less than 3 years. never abused, very well maintained, crankshaft broke in half. Suspect factory defect. Area rep tried to help, but Ariens would not back unit. outside of wear on skids from cement walkway, machine looked brand new. THIS MACHINE WAS NOT ABUSED. Will not buy another from Ariens.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from very disappointed After about 10 years the Ariens 24 inch was fantastic and ALWAYS started with regular gas. Traded for the 28 SHO Deluxe, Wpw what a shame. First large snowfall it conked out in the middle of the job and had to get help to get it back to my house (about 200 feet) in the snow. It was looked at under warranty and dealer blamed water in the gas. This was 2 years ago and I now use canned gas and the problem persists now. The dealer now says despite the 5 year wty the engine is covered for only 2 years. WHAT? It was defective from day 1 and how did water get in the gas? Never had this with the 24 inch.Never go by the past results, Ariens is out far as I am concerned. Tried calling your customer service and you state trhat only the dealer can help. Not good policy.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Tracks horribly! I owned an older Ariens for 30 years and it was amazing! When it finally died I bought a new Ariens without looking at anything else because I had such a good experience, but I have been very disappointed. I have now had it for a few years and EVERY time I take it out I fight the snowblower the whole time to keep it tracking in a straight line. It continually veers to the left and swerves to the right. I have tried using it in posi-traction move with both wheels engaged and without. I have tried adjusting the side rails to lift the blade slightly off the ground. The blade and rails have excessive wear already and I think the white metal used is soft and cheap and so it bites into the asphalt driveway and veers to whichever side it bites into most. The unit pull starts fine for me, but when I'm away and my needs to use the electric start she says it has to spin a lot to get it to start. I've experienced the same thing. It's also very poor in slush, my old Bobcat snow thrower was amazing in slush, but the impeller style of the Ariens doesn't handle wet snow well. All in all, I am disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from every year another problem I bought this blower because I was tired of fixing my old one. Year one, used twice and stored for the summer. Year two would not start. tried the electric start and the flywheel shattered. back to the dealer. They repaired the fly wheel but the machine ran rough. Was told it was a dirty carb? Took the machine home and cleaned the carb twice, still no change. Back to dealer. Stood my ground for something to be done. (under warranty yet) New carb was put on. Runs good just in time to put away for summer. Year three starts good used once put away for the summer. Now year 4 (out of warranty). starts good, first run down the driveway and drive disk falls apart and won't move. I am fed up with $1200 boat anchor!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from pretty good, but with some caveats Have had this model for 2 seasons now, 100' driveway at over 9,600' elevation in the Rocky Mountains. Annual snowfall over 12 feet total. Winter snow is mostly powder, which the Ariens handles without a sweat. Unit has more of a challenge with heavy, wet spring snows, where it has some trouble chunking up wet ice. Starts well with the pull cord even in the coldest of snow - it's kept covered but outside in an open shelter. Great turn radius and easy to use controls for the most part. Runs loud compared to other 'throwers on the mountain. Headlight burned out within about 10 hours of use, but because I couldn't get it down to the service shop (didn't have a truck at the time) they would not replace it, so I have to wear a headlamp when blowing in the dark - which up here is most of the time. Tires look knobby and have a deep tread but the unit sometimes struggles for traction. Tips of the blower chute rusted before the end of the first season. Electric start has never worked even in warmer conditions despite following the instructions exactly. The pull cord starter has never failed me but it would be nice to use the electric starter from time to time. Servicing the unit (plugs and oil) is very easy, more so than other brands mostly due to good spark plug placement. Engine runs loud but is a real workhorse. Would be much nicer to be able to rotate the blower chute without having to lean over the unit; moving the chute isn't hard but ergonomically unfriendly. My neighbor's Ariens Pro model has the chute controls on the "dashboard" with the rest of the controls. Cable connecting the auger control to the clutch broke at the end of year two, so I have to hold both handles down to operate the unit, where before it could be done one-handed. Overall a tough and durable unit with some limitations. I wanted to be wowed but it didn't quite get there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy one in a heartbeat Had the Deluxe 28 for 2 years now. Best machine I've ever had! No joke. This is a tank in any snow, gobbles it up and spits it out. Handles 2" light snow and 2 feet heavy snow with no trouble. Can throw high to clear those driveway edge walls. And has serious range away at the same time. Maneuverable, I can spin this around 180 in a near pivot like a lawn mower. Handle ice chunks, grinds them up & throws them out. Even the snow plow banks in the driveway. Handled this years 24" blizzard great. Had to clear a path on the road to my elderly neighbors to do their driveway. Have the electric start, never had any trouble with the pull start even in the cold.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from what a beast ' wow it was worth every penny ,I'm a problem solver so if i buy something to solve my problem i want it to do just that and it did my 2nd yr with this 28" deluxe wow i love this thing the talk of the town . everybody wants one cause i won't let them touch mine hay its my investment so I'm def. taking good care of it . I'm a beginner but i notice that in heavy snow just go slow let the machine do all the word so push a foot and let it throw it out then push again but thats on heavy or hard snow and ice ,on regular snow that has just fallen you'll go right through it . if you decide to get one you won't regret it so the next time it snows get ready for the time of your life .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A reliable old friend I purchased an Ariens Deluxe 27 blower about seven years ago. I seldom use it anymore because I do most of my snow removal with a tractor and front-end loader (it's just more fun). This week, however, the snow was too deep for my usual method, and that sent me to my Ariens. After sitting for two years high and dry in an outbuilding, my Ariens blower fired right up with one pull (I have electric start but have never needed it), ran strong, and powered through two long driveways buried in 16 inches of relatively dense snow. In other words, it did exactly what I needed it to do at the time I needed it done. I can't always say that about all of my tools and equipment, and the fact that this blower has always come through without hassle, starting issues, etc., is worth stopping to appreciate. So, here I am, seven years into satisfied ownership, and taking the time to spread the word in a long overdue review. If Ariens is still making them like they did when they made mine, I can't recommend them strongly enough.
