Snow Blower, Clearing Path: 28 In , Fuel Type: Gas, 16 In Auger Diameter is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 190.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nothing Compares I have owned and tried many snow blowers over the years, and nothing even comes close to the Ariens Professional. My first Ariens product was the Ariens Deluxe with a 342 cc engine. It was a good blower but I live in a northern part of Canada next to a large body of water and we get the Lake Effect and are constantly subjected to 2 to 3 feet of snow per storm. The deluxe model was good, but it just wasn't strong enough to handle our type of weather where it snows from mid October to May. The local dealer was kind enough to take my deluxe model on trade and give me the full amount that I had paid, so this told me that the service was excellent. My Ariens Professional 28 is now 3 years old and it still runs like the day I bought it. I have work colleagues who have other brands of snow blowers, and some are more expensive that mine, so we got together one day to try all 4 different machines and the Ariens Professional put them all to shame. Like anything, you have to do regular maintenance, especially with the cables as they have a tendency to freeze up, but if you take care of your machine, it will take care of you. My only suggestion would be is to check your nuts and bolts on a regular basis as this is a huge heavy blower with a lot of vibration and torque and things have a tendency to become loose after awhile, but the heavier the blower, the more stable and sturdy it is and this is what you want, something that will eat through snow, yet stay completely planted on the ground. This is also the only blower that I have ever owned that will go through slush in the spring of the year and not once has my shoot ever clogged up. I am 60 years old and have been buying snow blowers since the age of 20 and throughout the years I have purchased close to a dozen blowers as our winters are nasty, and nothing even comes close to the Ariens Professional. Seeing is believing, and the first heavy snowfall made me a believer. Thank you Ariens for building such a great product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good machine. Still could be better. - POWER: Power is good, but for a machine sold as a PRO model, I would not want any less power. My first use of this machine was on about 8-9" of HEAVY wet snow (almost slush). It cleared most in2nd or 3rd gear. 1at gear was needed for the 12 - 16" pile the town plowed up at the end of my driveway. It struggled here, but got through it. - ENGINE QUALITY: This has a "Category C" engine rated at 250 hours for emissions durability. This is the LOWEST durability rating for Briggs & Stratton engines in this size category. They have at least 2 or 3 higher durability ratings for engines of this type. Emissions durability does not equate to engine lifespan hours, but if this is the lowest category, it makes me wonder just how durable & long lasting this motor will be. Given this snow blower is sold as a "PRO" model I would tend to expect more than the lowest in a category of motors. - THROTTLE LEVER ON ENGINE: This is a big engine with some pretty significant vibration at times which occasionally seems to allow the throttle lever to vibrate to a lower, less powerful setting. A firmer slide mechanism, or even an easily bypassed "lock" to hold the lever at full throttle, would be helpful. - AUTO-TURN: The auto-turn system solves one problem, but creates another. I have a flat paved driveway & even on a good surface like this, the outer edges of the machine will have a little extra friction at times & this causes the auto-turn to kick in & the machine starts to turn left or right on its own. You have to exert pressure to get this fairly heavy machine to get it back in a straight line. It is a bit hard to drive this in a straight line, especially with lower amounts of snow. Auto-turn needs some type of "clutch" system to disengage it to make going straight as easy as it should be. - SNOW SCOOP/BRUSH: Should be mounted on blower handle or under dash. On auger housing it collects snow

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ariens Does it Right! I just bought this machine about 4 weeks ago. I live in a heavy lake effect snow area. I replaced an Arien's 8hp 1981 snow blower. I have used the machine four times since I bought it, the heaviest of snow being about 9 inches. What a difference! This is a powerful and well built machine. Its clears right down to the pavement and has no problems going through the heavy piles at the end of the driveway. The auto turn works well and the hand warmers do their job. You can use the electric start but it's not necessary because the machine starts on one pull of the cord. I highly recommend this machine if you live in a significant snowfall area.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Machine!! Ordered this machine in the summer of 2015 to replace another Ariens that was approaching 20 years of faithful service. Although I have only used it once as of the time of this writing, I saw immediately the significant increase in power. The ability to change snow discharge direction/angle on the fly is a huge improvement. But the single most impressive feature is the ease of making simple 180 degree change of direction.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I was impressed with the performance Impressed with the balance and throwing distance. Because of the balance of the unit and the ability to throw the snow a long distance I was able, with a ramp, to use it on my large deck. The deck has all kind of juts and cutouts with not many places to throw the snow because the location of our swimming pool being within 6 ft of the deck

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Without question, the best snow thrower on the market!! Purchased the 28" Pro Series this season to replace a machine (one of the red ones) we had for 15 years. There is no comparison. The Ariens Pro provides the best of everything! Easy Steer function makes operation easy. The engine runs quiet is extremely fuel efficient yet is unbelievably powerful and throws snow a country mile. The quality of construction has no equal......period! Ariens knows snow throwers and if you want the absolute best value......this is the brand to buy! The handle height is perfect for those of us over 6' tall s well. Thank you for offering such a great machine,
