Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 55reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by This log splitter will split any kind of wood. This is one great log splitter, it will split hard or soft wood , has no problem splitting eucalyptus , oak , ash, jacaranda, walnut, some pine . I have split logs three feet wide with this tool ,what is so great is the nice WIDE splitting wedge , great for splitting green wood , I split all my wood when it is green so it will dry out faster. This log splitter has split wood for four winters for my family and a few friends , mostly stove wood. this tool is so good I peel the bark off eucalyptus and pine , a great tool! It is worth every cent I paid because I split wood alone at sixty years young. My grand son calls me super grandpa log man . May 19, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by A quality machine We heat with wood as a second energy source. I've had the 27 ton splitter for two years and now it's time to offer a review for those shopping for a splitter. In my opinion this is the best splitter available for the price point. It's ruggedly made, well thought out and has more than adequate power with the Subaru engine. We've spit dozens of cords of red and white oak and the machine functions as it did from day one. There is nothing cheap about this machine. Change the engine oil every season and this thing will be around for your grandkids to use many years from now. It's a pleasure to own something that you know is well-built is a sea of poory made products. November 11, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by With my 27 ton Ariens splitter, I get great production of... I recently retired as supervising forester after 24 years in the forestry industry. living in the Colorado mountains I make the most out of saving energy costs, especially in winter. One way I do this is having a couple of wood stoves and an antique kitchen wood and coal cook stove. Cutting trees and splitting wood has kept me in shape, but those aches and pains from lifting the logs on the splitter sure slowed me down. Now that I finally purchased an Ariens 27 ton log splitter that has the horizontal and vertical option with a craddle, I get more production of split wood in less time with less back aches. I have found Ariens 27 ton to be reliable when I need it. It starts on the first or second pull, runs smoothly, and is extremely efficient on fuel. Than you Ariens for your great product. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great splitter Starts easy, tons of power, tows easy, moves around nice does not take up much room. June 30, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Runs great, has split everything. Split about 20 cords of wood a year and this one has worked great. I've owned it for one year. Engine starts right away. Ordered the tray to hold the pieces as I cut them. Only improvement I'd make is the tray should be standard and the stabilizing leg under the splitter end is kind of a pain to put down. I'll lose the main pin or cotter pin in the wood chips one of these days. June 23, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent piece of equipment The 27 ton splitter has more that enough power to split any logs that I have cut. Some pieces were up too 36" and there was no delay on the split. I am very happy with the speed of the machine for both splitting and resetting. An excellent value. June 19, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by ONE TOUGH, TOP SHELF SPLITTER Been working this splitter each day , 4hrs for about a month. The Subaru Engine just purrs and the ram does the rest. Splitting nothing but heavy oak and black walnut, it amazes me of the power this splitter produces, even with engine half throttle. Either horizontal or vertical positions same power is produced. The ideal location of the activation lever keeps you in a safe position left or right. It runs quite compared to some I have had and the large fuel tank lets you keep on going a bit longer. The well balanced machine is easy to move around by hand or lawn tractor. I did purchase the tray, predrilled holes already in place on machine. Makes things even easier. OORAH June 15, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Works great! Starts on the first pull almost every time (if you remember to turn the switch on LOL). So far it has split every piece I have placed on it or under it. Only problem was I bent the two plates that are designed to dislodge wood stuck to the wedge. The piece that stuck was huge and old. I was able to "bend" them back into place. More of a user issue then design but if the plates were just a bit thicker perhaps they would work better. June 15, 2013
