Shield caps protect plasma torch nozzles from damage during plasma cutting applications. Shielding gas flows between a shield cap and nozzle on a plasma torch. The gas cools the nozzle and constricts the arc to help ensure a clean cut with square edges. Shield caps are compatible with specific brands and series of plasma torches and plasma cutters. They must be replaced when they become worn or damaged to maintain the performance of the plasma torches. A complete plasma torch assembly includes a swirl ring, nozzle, retaining cap, shield cap, and electrode.
