Torx screwdrivers, also known as a star screwdrivers or star bits, come with a Torx tip that has a six-point star-shaped pattern where the tip at the end of the shaft is inserted into the Torx indentation in the screw and the handle is turned to rotate the screw. Torx tips provide a more secure grip on the fastener head, increase torque transfer, and are less likely to cam out (slip out of the head) and damage the screwhead and adjacent surfaces compared to slotted head or Phillips head screwdrivers. Torx Plus screwdrivers are for Torx Plus fasteners that can handle high torque compared to Torx fasteners. Torx screws are commonly found on automobiles, motorcycles, bicycle disc brake systems, hard disk drives, computer systems, and consumer electronics.
