Rain gauges measure the total amount of rainfall. They are typically mounted on a fence or wall, or directly mounted to the ground with a stake or on a post with a stake. Analog rain gauges are plastic vessels that are etched with a measurement scale. Digital gauges have an outdoor vessel used to capture liquid that wirelessly connects to an indoor desktop console.
Analog Rain Gauges
Plastic analog rain gauges are tall and slender and etched with inch markings along their side to record the amount of rainfall at a specific location. Rain gauges can be post- or fence-mounted or staked into the ground to avoid overhangs or growth that would block them.
