Flange lockout devices cover bolts on pipeline flanges to prevent the flange from being opened while the pipeline is under maintenance or repair. A padlock is required to ensure the lockout isn't removed by unauthorized personnel. These devices are an integral part of a facility lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedure designed to meet the OSHA standard for the Control of Hazardous Energy (Lockout/Tagout).
Blind Flange Lockouts
These lockouts prevent flange nuts from being removed when a blind is inserted between pipe flanges for maintenance. The lockout is installed over nuts on both sides of the flange and a padlock is added to prevent the lockout from being removed.
