Leather impact-resistant gloves have impact-rated protection on the back of the hand to protect against injuries caused by hazards such as falling objects, swinging chain, and impact caused by working in tight spaces. Leather gloves resist wear and provide a balance of abrasion resistance and dexterity and are used in forestry, landscaping, and general construction. ANSI/ISEA tests impact to the knuckles and fingers on a scale of 1 to 3, with higher levels indicating greater protection. CE-rated gloves test impact to the knuckles only and are given a pass/fail grade. Unrated impact-resistant gloves have protection on the knuckle side of the hand to protect hands from injuries caused by incidental impact caused by working in tight spaces or falling items, but have not been tested to ANSI/ISEA or CE standards. Impact-rated gloves are worn in construction, automotive, assembly, and oil and gas trades.
