Spun yarn construction makes knit gloves formfitting. ANSI/ISEA cut levels indicate the level of protection provided. Higher numbers indicate more cut protection but they generally have less dexterity than gloves with lower levels of cut protection.

Medium cut levels (ANSI A4-A5) protect against cuts caused when performing automotive assembly and mining tasks, encountering sharp edges on ductwork, and handling recycling materials. Impact-resistant gloves protect the back of the hand against impact hazards such as falling objects, swinging chain, and bumps caused by working in tight spaces. Uncoated gloves provide increased breathability and dexterity over coated gloves. They eliminate the risk of coatings contaminating the area or workpiece.

Heavy cut-level knit gloves with polyurethane coating provide a good grip when handling dry workpieces. Heavy cut levels (ANSI A6-A7) protect from cuts caused from handling slitter blades, steel cable, and stamped metal. Polyurethane is lightweight and breathable to keep hands cool. It is less resistant to oil and abrasion than other coatings.

Nitrile resists abrasion, oils, and chemical splash and provides a secure grip when working with dry, greasy, and oily parts. It provides excellent abrasion resistance and good puncture resistance when handling blunt objects like burrs and dull wire.
