Self-closing safety gates automatically shut when released to block off entrances and exits when not in use. Also called swing gates, these barriers install across openings to help prevent falls from high areas, such as mezzanines, elevated walkways, and loading docks. They can also be used to control traffic at ground level. The gates open when pushed to allow people or deliveries to pass through.

The gates' rails extend and adjust to fit the width of the opening, which allows the gate to install across a wide range of openings. Single-door metal safety gates create a barrier that extends from the top rail to the middle rail on a railing. They provide more vertical coverage than low-profile gates.
