Spherical rod ends and spherical bearings provide a fixed point of contact between two components to allow rotational movement and to compensate for angular misalignment. Also referred to as Heim joints, spherical rod ends have a male or female threaded shaft and a plain or studded bearing. Plain spherical rod ends consist of a plain bearing in the eye-shaped head of the rod while spherical rod ends with a stud have a threaded ball stud that mounts to a moving part. Spherical bearings mount into an existing component's housing to support a rotating shaft in its bore and compensate for angular misalignment.
