Escutcheons seal a faucet to a sink or cover the wall openings for a sink's water supply lines. They fit at the base of a faucet to conceal hardware and fittings and keep water out of wall openings and mounting holes. These parts are commonly used to comply with plumbing codes that require escutcheon plates to cover the openings around exposed pipes.
Trim and cover plates cover the faucet holes and the hardware that mounts the faucet to a surface. They keep water from getting under the sink and help prevent hardware from rusting. Also called deck plates, they're often used when changing from a multi-hole faucet to a single-hole faucet.
