Water suction and discharge hoses are designed to vacuum (suction) or pump (discharge) water from one place to another. Some of these hoses can only be used for suction applications, some can be used just for discharge applications, and some can be used for both. Hoses that can be used only for suction applications or for both suction and discharge applications typically have rigid reinforcement to prevent them from collapsing during suction. Hoses that can only be used for discharge applications tend to lay flat when not in use.
