They help items flow smoothly along the conveyor, minimize wear or damage on the items during conveying, and position items correctly for particular applications. They can be used to direct items along the conveyor, collect and hold items at a certain spot on the conveyor, cushion delicate items during conveying, and prevent items from falling off the conveyor.
