Standard multi-ply conveyor belting is used to replace a worn or damaged belt on a conveyor to prevent belt malfunction and conveyor downtime. It can also be used to upgrade an existing belt on a conveyor to a belt that is better suited for a specific environment or application. Multi-ply conveyor belting (also called flat belting) consists of an internal layer of strong woven fabric surrounded by top and bottom covers that protect the inner layer. Mechanical fasteners (also known as belt lacing) or non-mechanical endless splicing techniques are used to join the ends of the belt and form a loop when installing the replacement conveyor belt on a conveyor.
