Light-duty NSF-listed sanitary plate casters have double ball swivel bearings and swivel more smoothly than economy light-duty NSF-listed sanitary plate casters. They are suitable for use on carts, prep tables, food-service equipment, racks, and other equipment used in food-service areas, food-manufacturing facilities, and similar environments where the casters will be transporting relatively light loads over smooth, flat surfaces. Sometimes known as institutional plate casters, these light-duty plate casters have zinc-plated or nickel-plated steel frames.
Low-profile easy-turn light-duty and medium-duty standard plate casters each have two wheels mounted on one axle. This reduces friction between the floor and the wheels (also known as scrubbing), which allows the casters to swivel more easily than plate casters with a single wheel. Low-profile casters keep the equipment close to the ground to maximize the equipment's stability while rolling. These casters are used on carts, business machines, store fixtures, and other equipment that will be moved manually at moderate speeds. They are suitable for transporting loads along smooth, flat surfaces in areas where the casters won't encounter shock loading. These light-duty and medium-duty plate casters have steel frames with a zinc-plated or polished brass finish. Medium-duty casters can bear more weight and withstand more industrial conditions than light-duty casters.
