Helical-flute thread mills have spiral flutes that distribute the chip load as the thread mill removes material to cut threads into an existing hole or onto the external surface of a part. They provide a smoother cut than straight-flute or single-profile thread mills and are used to create threads on tough or thin-walled materials. Helical-flute thread mills can create internal threads of the same pitch in a range of hole diameters, eliminating the need to change tools when threading multiple holes of different sizes. Thread mills are only usable in CNC machines that have helical interpolation capability.

Exo-Coated Carbide Helical-Flute Thread Mills
These helical-flute thread mills have an EXO coating, which is a multilayered TiAlN coating with a very smooth finish that provides better wear resistance than a standard TiAlN coating. EXO-coated thread mills can be used at high speeds and withstand high temperatures. Carbide thread mills offer excellent wear resistance, heat resistance, and hardness.

WXS-Coated Carbide Helical-Flute Thread Mills
These helical-flute thread mills have a WXS coating that protects the thread mill from wear and provides maximum heat resistance when milling nickel-based alloys and hardened steels with a Rockwell hardness of more than 50HRC. It is harder and has a higher oxidation temperature than a TiAlN coating. The thread mills are made from carbide, which offers excellent wear resistance, heat resistance, and hardness.

SS Finish Carbide Helical-Flute Thread Mills
These helical-flute thread mills have an SS finish that provides a polished surface that's smoother than a bright-finish helical-flute thread mill. They are used for milling steels and other difficult-to-machine materials. Carbide thread mills offer excellent wear resistance, heat resistance, and hardness.
