Protractors and angle finders are measuring tools used for finding angles in layout and setup applications as well as determining inclines. Digital and mechanical protractors include simple manual-reading protractors and bevel protractors, manual and digital miter protractors, and digital angle finders. They are read manually with a vernier scale or can be read digitally with measurements shown on an LCD. Machinist squares and sets, also called precision steel squares, are used to layout, align, and mark workpieces at 90° right angles or other common angles.

Manual-Reading Protractors
Purchased productsThese manual-reading protractors resemble basic school-style protractors. They have a square or round head with a 180° arc marked on the body. Select models include a blade that may be etched with graduations, while others may require a rule or straight edge to read accurately. These protractors are commonly used for woodworking and metalworking applications.Brands

Digital Protractors
Purchased productsDigital protractors are compact measuring devices that have an LCD screen that shows measurements and has built-in electronic functions like data hold and absolute positioning. With the LCD, there is no need to do visual reading on a standard or vernier scale. These protractors resemble digital levels and are commonly used in metalworking, machining, and light and heavy manufacturing applications.Brands
