Spot, reflector, and flood light bulbs intensify their light output by reflecting light away from the bulb sides and directing it through the top. They cast light in one direction for general and accent lighting applications. These spot, reflector, and flood lamps are commonly found in can, track, and security lighting fixtures.

Bulged Reflector (BR) Lamps
Bulged reflector (BR) lamps have a smooth, mirror-like lining plus a reflector in the neck to supply more light output than R lamps. The neck reflector redirects additional light rays from the base through the top of the bulb. These BR light bulbs diffuse light through a slightly curved lens that softens the lighting effect and minimizes shadows. They produce a wide beam angle with a broad light pattern for general and floodlighting applications, especially in corridors, stairwells, and large common areas.

Multifaceted Reflector (MR) Lamps
Multifaceted reflector (MR) lamps are lined with rippled reflectors that concentrate light into a focused beam for highlighting and spotlighting nearby objects and surfaces. These compact light bulbs fit into tighter spaces and produce a narrower light beam than other reflector lamps except AR lamps. They are commonly used in display cases, small task lights, and elevator lights where the bulb will be concealed.
