Barometric Draft Control Dampers
Single Acting dampers swing open in one direction. They act like a one-way valve and block air from flowing backward. They are commonly used in oil-fired combustion equipment and other applications where backflow is undesirable.
Double Acting dampers swing open in both directions. While the backflow of exhaust gas is possible, special sensors can be installed to detect it and adjust the fuel flow. They are most commonly used with gas-burning combustion systems.
Single and Double Acting
Single and Double Acting dampers can be configured to function as either single-acting dampers or double-acting dampers. Single-acting dampers act like one-way valves and help prevent backflow. Double-acting dampers can allow flow in both directions and can be used with sensors to optimize fuel flow and burn.
