Portable air cleaners reduce or deactivate airborne contaminants to help improve indoor air quality and neutralize odors in occupied spaces. Also called portable air purifiers, they can be moved to different spaces to provide localized air cleaning where it's needed. These units do not require professional installation or an HVAC system, and they can be run continuously. Portable air cleaners contain a fan that circulates the air, and they use one or more air cleaning methods to remove contaminants from the air that passes through them.
Room Air Cleaners
Room air cleaners have higher air flow and can clean a larger volume of air per minute than desktop air cleaners. Also called room air purifiers, they stand on the floor and provide localized air cleaning in classrooms, offices, and other occupied spaces. These air cleaners use one or more air-cleaning technologies to reduce or deactivate airborne contaminants and neutralize odors. For more information on the specific air-cleaning technologies used by each air cleaner, please see the copy in the filter sidebar.
