Taper pins connect a gear hub, collar or pulley to a shaft. These solid, cylindrical rods have a uniform taper of 1/4” per foot for standard sizes. Since taper pins are used in everything from clutch assemblies to lathes to bicycle gears, they come in different sizes and materials. Some are threaded on one end to accept a nut.
