Twist-on wire connectors create semipermanent connections between two or more wires without the need for crimping or soldering tools. Also known as wire nuts, they install by hand and are used in low-voltage applications to extend or terminate electrical and ground connections such as light switches, fixtures, and electronic devices. They have insulated shells with an opening where stripped wires insert and a beveled metal coil that, when twisted around the wires, digs into the conductors to hold and connect them.
