Non-NEMA locking-blade plugs and receptacles have plug/socket configurations that don't adhere to the NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers Association) standard design. These devices have unique plug/socket mating designs to prevent mismatched connections and they secure together by being twisted to prevent unintended disconnections. Non-NEMA devices are used for powering proprietary equipment like MRI machines and those that use California-style connections. Plugs attach to cables and have terminals that insert into connectors and receptacles. Connectors attach to cables and have socket openings that connect with plugs and inlets. Receptacles mount on surfaces and have socket openings that accept plugs. Inlets secure to surfaces and equipment and have pin terminals to secure connectors.
