    Programmed-Start Ballasts use a premium starting method that extends lamp life in frequent switching applications. Require nonshunted sockets.

    Instant-Start Ballasts tend to come with factory-installed shunted sockets. Great for use when maximum energy savings are desired and when lamps are not switched frequently during normal operations.
