I was given this as a gift. It looks great but it is not clear at all where to put the batteries. I've assembled a lot of toys and furniture and can usually figure things out but this baffles me. And there are no instructions that came in the box which explain where the batteries should go. Very odd. Any idea? Many thanks. Mike

According to the manufacturer, the battery compartment is located in the cylindrical compartment below the lamphead itself.
