Rated 5 out of 5 by Sprayer worked great with Thompson Water Seal. I usually don't write reviews on products, but after reading all the bad reviews on this Wagner sprayer, I had to comment. THIS SPRAYER WORKED GREAT!! I used this sprayer to seal a wood fence (approximately 1000 square feet of material). The sealer was Thompson Water Seal Waterproofer Plus and I used about 5 gallons to do both sides of the fence. I did half the fence one day, cleaned the sprayer per the instruction manual and finished the fence later in the week. With the sprayer, I was able to finish the job in about 4 hours. I bought a second quart paint container so my wife was able to always have one container full and ready to go. Highly recommend this sprayer for the type application that I bought it for - sealers and stains. August 21, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Will never waste my money on Wagner again. I've bought two Wagner products, a power stainer and a power painter. The stainer quit after three uses. The painter quit after one use. Both were thoroughly cleaned and oiled after each use. I hope to get my money back for the painter but I did not keep the receipt for the stainer. Wagner products are absolute, 100% junk. I will never waste my money on Wagner again. July 6, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Piston Stuck due to poor instructions in the manual Following the cleaning instructions in the manual for acrylic paint will result in a seized piston, as this portion of the manual fails to mention anything about removing and cleaning this part. Paint will dry in it and "simply remove" is the advice... impossible advice, I might add. Once the piston is stuck, no amount of pulling and tugging at it will remove it. There is nothing "simple" about removing the stuck piston. I did a lot of googling to try to find a _real_ solution. Fixya says if this occurs "good luck with that". Most folks have sworn off the Wagner after this has happened, as there seems to be no way to fix it and the part is junk if it can't be unstuck. The replacement part is so expensive, one is more likely to replace the whole unit with another brand.Pulling and tugging did nothing but cramp the hands and cause frustration and some foul language. Someone mentioned WD-40. No go. Since there was nothing to lose, tried soaking in brake fluid. Nadda. Finally, after an entire day of fighting with the confounded thing tried boiling it in a pan of water. This worked! If your piston has stuck and you're ready to chuck the thing, you've got nothing to lose. Put it in a pan and boil the heck out of it! Took about 15-20 minutes on this one. Give it a go and pass on the info. So many frustrated folks from this being told it's "operator error" when the error is in fact in the omission of the need to clean it in that part of the manual. Whomever wrote that thing should have to try to pry every single piston that's ever stuck on any customer's paint gun by hand and not be allowed to quit until they've fixed them all or admit they messed up! Rated 1 out of 5 by Total waste of good money! I had a fence to paint, so I bought a new Wagner Power Painter Plus 6.6. Got it home read the direction over, twice. Put the unit together and tried to paint the fence, no luck. Took it all apart, constantly checking with the instructions. Reassembly luck. Long story short I never did get the fence painted with that sprayer. Cleaned it put it back in it's case and forgot about it for a year. Got it out today to go over the same fence again. Read the instructions again and again. Put it together again. Nothing. Pulled the piston out, cleaned it, lubed it with household oil. Thought this is it, nothing again. Never could find any new parts at any of the "box" stores. Now after many hours of total frustration, I've gone to a pump-up sprayer. Much cheaper and much more reliable. Again total waste of time and money. October 21, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Ease of Use I have never used a spray gun before . Only watched my husband and used a paintbrush for all my jobs. I hand paint furniture and for some projects I don't want to have to use a brush. I got tired of waiting for my husband to finish his projects and decided to read the manual and try it myself. I have to say it was very easy to set up and very easy to clean. I did lose an atomizer value already because they are so small. lol Looks like I will be hitting up the parts department. Overall I very satisfied. July 20, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Way easier & faster than rolling/brushing I had 7 fence panels to stain both sides of before the contractor installation. Used the remote setup. There was no way to know if the second tip included in the box was the "round tip" or the "stain tip" and after checking at the store, it appeared to be a stain tip. Used it, but I'm pretty sure it was not the stain tip. Got globs of splatter after stain was dragged down the air supply line, even when the knob was turned as far as possible to the Decrease side. Clean up was not the 10 minutes advertised, but wasn't an ordeal either.Splatters were easy to deal with using a damp rag, so I'm still happy I got this sprayer. Seven 6' x 6' panels, both sides, about 6 hours total time. My fence looks great! To Wagner folks: Please include a picture of how to get all this stuff back in the storage case and label the included tips so we know we are using the right tool for the job. Rated 1 out of 5 by do not buy it was a waste of money use one time I wanted to finish the job the next day it would not work I took it apart and clean it with wagner lube and cleaner after first use follow all direction still garbage June 26, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Better than expected On my job I have had to use commercial paint sprayers. The paint had to be thinned out to the exact requirement. I wanted to paint using latex paint at home which is much thicker. I bought the power painter plus as a shot in the dark. I was thinking it might make this project a lot easier. Surely it really can't be that good. Boy was I surprised, It sprayed beautifully. No thinning needed. Of course it was a good quality paint. But the results were smooth even coverage. June 5, 2014
