Rated 5 out of 5 by The PRO510XL is a solid radio I bought my PRO510XL in July, 1994. My previous CB was a big, fully loaded radio by another manufacturer mounted on a hump mount which we moved from car to car. But we acquired a new vehicle which the old CB did not fit. I took measurements inside the new vehicle and went shopping for a new CB which would fit. Size was really the only criteria I used when deciding on the PRO510XL. It just fit into a cubby in the middle of the dash of that car.I've grown to love my PRO510XL over the years. I paired it with a 38 inch base loaded fiber glass magnetic mount antenna on the roof of my car. I attached a 12v plug adapter to the radio to make it easy to move it from car to car. The audio quality from the CB is superior in every way compared to the audio quality of my old CB. And the stock microphone on the radio seems to work well too. I've never had anyone complain about not being able to hear me.I like that I can operate the controls of the PRO510XL by feel and don't have to take my eyes off the road. Many of the newer high end CBs have lots of small push buttons and multifunction knobs close together forcing you to take your eyes off of the road to operate them. I don't have to look at my radio to change the channel – I just turn the big knob on the far right and count the number of clicks to know what channel I have moved to. The middle knob controls squelch and the left knob is on/off/volume. The one toggle switch turns the automatic noise limiter on or off. Being able to operate the radio by feel is especially important in my current vehicle where the radio is located face up in a cubby to my right and slightly behind me.The fact that my PRO510XL is still going strong after 19 years testifies to the build quality of this radio. The fact the Uniden is still selling this model after 19 years testifies to the timeless design of this radio. If this radio ever quits working, the first thing I am going to look for is another PRO510XL. (O.K. Now that I know about the PRO520XL, I might consider that one also.)Uniden, if you would like me to replace this radio before it breaks, then make a radio this size that has built in SWR. Right now, if I want a built in SWR meter in any brand, it has to be a much larger radio which does not fit in any of my vehicles.Uniden, if you really want to excite me, build a radio this size with a chip in it that does SWR automatically when I toggle a switch and displays it on the digital channel display. It seems like it would be easy to have a chip calibrate the SWR and then convert it for display. The PRO510XL is a solid radio. I think you will grow to love it as I have. July 25, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by great cb Just replaced by old Uniden with a new one. Pretty much same model-love the old one but I dropped it and it didn't work right after. So I replaced it with a new one! February 9, 2012
