We are measuring pump impeller clearances inside of an elbow (pipe). the mechanics have to crawl inside. it is much easier to use the taper gage as it does not require changing leaves (feeler gage set). My question is, how accurate or what tolerance should we figure to add/subtract from measurement?

Answer: 
This gage is a precision tapered hardened and polished piece of steel. It is extremely precision but it is only as accurate as the technician using it.
