Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 4reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by DURABLE I've have a Skil 77 type 15 saw, made in the USA for over 30 years. Used it for residential construction and remodel jobs. Certainly can take a lot of abuse. Then one day it started to make an internal rubbing sound so I replaced it with the SHD77. Was skeptical at first because they are made in China. It was a gamble I was willing to take. I've only had it a few days now, and it appears to provide the same performance as the old one. I gave it a 5 star based solely on the type 15's performance. Meanwhile, I rebuilt the old saw and carry it as a back-up. Just for info.; when I rebuilt the type 15 saw, I found all the bearings, gears and seals were still in excellent shape. I was really impressed because I didn't change the gear oil as often as I should have. I did change the brushes 3 to 4 times over the years. Found the saw had a broken metal washer which is no longer used in the type 17 model. December 26, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by skil shd77 worm drive Simply the best !! Has more power to bite down on thick wood than any other saw hands down !! Smooth steady power. No other saw last as long . Just got a new one , but the old one ( over ten years old) was still working but was very beat up from the years of use. I use this saw daily in my remodeling co, and they just never stop working !!!
