Rated 5 out of 5 by Great router for novices I bought this router because I was building a rocking cradle for my daughter's first baby and needed to round all edges to protect the newborn. I was very nervous about using it, but it was a piece of cake - worked exceptionally well and the way it starts at low speed and builds up speed over a couple seconds helped me feel secure in using it. I love it! Great tool! And the cradle looks awesome! April 22, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by nice router! I have a skil router I have had for over 35 years. Bought in 1978! I used it a few times a year. I was ready to start spending more time woodworking[just retired] .I decided to give skil a chance, no reason not to. I also bought a circular saw same day as router. [1978] both still run strong. Used saw hundreds of hours. [ will buy another saw when need to ] Bought new router, built router table-cabinet- work station with it.Used both bases . Mounted fixed base on router table. I noticed play in the adjustment screw. I took micro-adjuster apart, put shim in, tightened adjustment screw slop. I am hoping the longevity is there! April 7, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Love It! This was just what I needed to add to my woodworking tool box. Now that I've used it, I wish I'd had it years before on other projects. October 23, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by missing capability Just bought the model 1830, only to discover that it cannot be table mounted. For a beginner without a table, this would do. October 20, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by txrick2007 Skil-1830 I have been very pleased since day one of pulling this tool out in the shop. I use a Router a lot in the shop and also on the job site. But being this tool is a Combo Router is just more pleasing to me. The 2 1/4 HP has held up to anything I have asked of it and then some. It feels so good in your hands and just a Super Combo Router that I have added one more. And No It Was Not Got For Any Reason More Than A Great Router. I have used them high dollar routers and I would not mind saying if I had to pick I would stay with my SKIL. October 16, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good Power I bought this router to do a few jobs I get in my home craft shop.  I don't do a lot of this type work but this router is ideal for any job you need done in a small shop. The units are well built, like all SKIL tools, and produce great results on all the task Ihave used them for. September 5, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Easy to operate. Plenty of power. Reliable I purchased this router, along with the Skil router table.  In the store, i was a bit worried about the stability of the table but once I set the table up while anchoring to a piece of plywood, it was very solid.  The routers controls are easy to understand and simple to use.  Where I used to dread having to route a piece with my old router, with this tool in hand, I achieve high quality routing with minimal effort.
