Rated 1 out of 5 by I tried these when I replaced old casters on chairs. I can't get these (or any other brand) to stay installed in the bottom of the chair leg. perhaps that is because the original socket wallowed out the hole that had been drilled for it. So beware if your chair is real old. The wood may not be capable of holding this replacement. March 30, 2014

Every time I've tried to replace caster sockets in wooden chair legs, I can't get the socket to stay in place. It always works loose when someone sits in the chair and rolls it. Is it because the hole in the old wood has walled out and is now to large? Is there a trick to making it stay?
