TO REPLACE TRANSMITTER BATTERY
1.Remove the back cover from the Transmitter by pushing on the
bottom locking tab. (Insert screwdriver blade into the slot at the
bottom of the front cover. Press in slightly, and pull on the back
cover.)
2.Remove old battery and dispose of promptly. Keep away from
children. Do not disassemble and do not dispose of in fire.
3.Install a 6 volt alkaline battery. Make sure the battery (+) and (-)
terminals match (+) and (-) contacts shown on Transmitter case.

What do you have that can pick up the sound of the door bell and wirelessly transmit it to a receiver in another part of the house? It could be in the basement or upstairs, and therefore it has to transmit the signal through the walls of the house.
