Answer: 
Grainger has contacted the product supplier and has been advised by them of the following: The piston is selected based on fluid viscosity and pressure. Typically the #3 piston would be for an Air or Gas system; the #2 piston would be for water or light oil and the #02 piston would be for heavy oil. A low pressure air system (inches of water) would require the #02 piston instead of the #3 piston. Likewise, a high pressure water system (10,000 psi) would require the #3 piston
