Grainger has contacted the product supplier and has been advised by them of the following:

The peak amp draw at start-up is 45 amps, the running amps during normal operation is 25 amps. As the Electrical Code varies depending on which state you are in, please consult a licensed electrician in your area to determine what the applicable gauge wire to use in your area will be.

The concern with using a car battery is it would have to be one which supplies 12VDC at a draw of 45 startup amps and 25 running amps.
