I have a 3 1/2 ton A/C split system, the condenser is 240/3 phase and my house only has 240/1 phase. I have pulled 240 to the unit lication with disconnect. now I need a converter and would like to mount it next to the disconnect.

Answer:
These units are not rated for outdoor environments. Also, with the static phase converters there will be a loss of 1/3 of the horsepower rating. A rotary phase converter will maintain full horsepower to the condenser unit and may be a better choice. Please call us at 800-323-0620 so we can assist you in selecting a product that will work of your application.

Answer:
The 2MV49 static phase converter will work for a 7.5 HP, 20 amp 3 phase motor. However, by using the static phase converters, your motor will experience a loss of 1/3 of it's horsepower. So to the equipment, it will appear that you have installed a 5 horsepower motor; roughly. Static phase converters work well for lower torque applications. If your grinder operates in a high torque manner, you may want to consider the rotary phase converter 3EDX6; which will give you the full horsepower capacity of your motor.

Answer:
This unit has a 22 amp capacity in general. Typically for an ice cream machine you will have a condensing unit which requires constant three phase power. This unit is a static converter and the 3rd leg generated will drop out after start up. Grainger item 3EDX4 may be better suited for your installation. Please call us at 1-800-Grainger to discuss your installation in greater detail.
