Sand sometimes gets into ice maker valve and plugs it up. I have a filter on well before line comes into house, but not enough. And Im tired of replacing refrigerator water inlet valve at $45 a pop.. If this would work, what fittings are needed to put this on> Thanks. I'm a DIYer not by choice, but due to lack of qualified repair people near my rural farm.

Answer:
This filter would be a fine choice for an icemaker line, and if you are using ¼” tubing you will need a pair of item 36X027 to complete the installation. Alternatively, you can use filter number 1EDA8 which is the same filter but is has the ¼” tubing adapters built into the filter body already.
