Answer:
Grainger has contacted the product supplier and have been advised by them of the following:
Grainger part number 10E813 is a magnetic sheet, so it is designed to adhere to a metal surface. It can be cut with a good pair of sharp scissors. Grainger offers more versions of this, for example part number 5PWH8 is a static cling dry erase sheet. It is recommended that you call Grainger Tech Support to determine a specific part number for your environment and application. There may be more options for consideration.

In my old classroom, I used whiteboards attached to stockroom doors to communicate daily assignments to my students (3 different classes). My classroom is in a brand new school and I need a material that can be written on and and changed as easily as dry erase, but which doesn't require mounting screws/holes in the drywall. How durable is the dry erase magnetic sheet material? Would it stick to walls with metal studs? Can I slap it over information written on a dry erase board to provide a clean spot for a short throw projector? Is there something else you would recommend? The cost will come out of my own pocket so cost and durability are top priorities.

Answer:
Yes, this material is designed durable for your application. It will stick directly to steel without drywall or any other spacer in between. This material will have a reflective finish so it will not be optimum for projector use. Because there are so many factors involved here, I suggest giving Grainger's Technical Product Support Team a call so we can find the correct product for your application. 800 472 4643
