Durable analog radio provides clear audio quality and expanded frequency capability. Operates on 89 UHF and 27 VHF business frequencies; up to 213 codes to ensure clear signal. Allows for programmable frequencies to be added later. Includes battery, belt clip, single-unit drop-in charging tray, and transformer.

Grainger has contacted the product supplier and have been advised by them of the following: www.fcc.gov is a good site to get an understanding of FCC licensing. Yes you will be required to have an FCC license for your radios as well.

Bought ten of these, frequency desired is within the range but not one of the ones already programmed according to the chart in the owners manual. Manual states:

"PROGRAMMING CUSTOMIZED FREQUENCIES ON 4W/5W RDX MODELS

Certain 4W/5W Models can be programmed to have customized frequencies (different from the ones shown in the VHF and UHF charts in previous pages). VHF range is 146 -174 MHz and UHF 438 - 470 MHz. Certain 4W/5W models can also be programmed to work with repeaters.
Please contact your Motorola point of purchase for details."
