Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing Tool!! I have this tool for 2 months and I can say it was an amazing surprise. It really delivers what it proposes. The battery lasts much, just made the first charge and still have 2/3 load! Detects iron, copper, aluminum, wood, electrical wires and pipes with water (PVC up!). The mode is the most incredible METAL, including detecting the center of the rebar. Your competitor also does this, but the Milwaukee you pay 1/3 of the value in Brazil. Excellent sensitivity and knowing use, gives even to draw a diagram of pipes in the wall. Details: Does not save the setting and sound units and difficulty in detecting surface marble (so what?? Your competitor too!!). Great cost-benefit. Milwaukee, please come to Brazil soon! January 5, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Works great. Finally something that can scan through 2 layers of 5/8" drywall. Rolling wheels work smoothly and do not mark up walls. Little pricey and bulkey with case but worth it when accuracy is a must. January 3, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice unit! I have owned this tool for a couple years now and have always been happy with the results when I use it. Yes, this tool does have some size to it as compared to the typical home use stud finder but it is much more than just a stud finder. As for as its weight, when you pick it up without the battery, you might think there is nothing inside the case. It's not really heavy at all! I think Milwaukee did a good job with this tool. I don't believe that Harry Homeowner was the target market when it was designed. August 11, 2012

Answer:
Grainger has contacted the product supplier and has been advised by them of the following: This item can locate rebar up to 6” deep in concrete. It can also distinguish between ferrous and non-ferrous metals when scanning.
